Original Farmhouse

When we moved from our rural 1848 fieldstone farmhouse just outside Elora in 2010, we knew we’d miss our old apple tree. What a dream to find another farmhouse with yet another century-old apple tree right in the heart of Uptown Waterloo!

51 Allen St W was constructed in the “Waterloo Vernacular” architectural style. Later examples of this style can be found on Dorset Street in Waterloo. However, the Dorset homes were constructed of brick in the late 1880s. This home is an earlier version of that style, constructed of wood with a fieldstone base. Find this original farmhouse listed on: Historic Waterloo!

To stay true to the original character of the farmhouse, we’ve kept original wide-plank flooring throughout. The kitchen was lovingly updated to complement the original cabinetry that has been preserved from when the home was first built.
